Year 2008 |
This year we traveled to our new Maui time share in February, and on a small river boat cruise, "The Great Rivers of Europe" (Rhine, Main and Danube) from Amsterdam to Vienna in April. Following that, we enjoyed traveling on land through Hungary, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Austria. We loved Vienna but found Croatia and Montenegro beautiful and exciting as well. Guess we have been bitten by the travel bug. We plan to take a Panama Canal cruise next year besides a trip back to Maui in March. That is after we go to Pasadena to the Rose Bowl parade the end of this month and for New Year's. Our city of Roseville is celebrating its 100th birthday and will have a float in this year's parade. We will be able to put flowers on the float, see the parade, visit the Getty Museum and attend the Christmas drama at Crystal Cathedral. New Year's Eve will find us at a big party at Knott's Berry Farm. Be sure to watch the parade on television. The float has a steam engine, large Heritage Oak tree and Native Americans.
It's sad to think that Nana is no longer with us as she passed away in March. But she is celebrating Christmas in heaven with the angels. Maybe our cat, Smokey, is there sitting in her lap! We had a family celebration of Nana's life and burial of her ashes in the family plot in Lincoln, Nebraska in August of this year. It turned into a great family reunion, being able to see and get to know many wonderful relatives there. There were 21 of us, coming from Florida, Chicago, California and Spain. We'd love to go back and visit with those fun loving folks sometime. Traveling by car, we visited several national parks, Branson and stayed at Nancy's brother's in Florida settling Nana's estate. We also enjoyed staying with friends in their Santa Fe adobe casita on the way back to California. Total miles: 7,252.
Dave: I finally retired from Men's Wearhouse. I don't really miss it as I keep so busy cycling, playing tennis, skiing, traveling and now selling coins on Ebay among other things! Also, I am a presenter for the proposed SC Sierra Pines Lodge expansion project. We hope to give over 50 presentations to many different groups here in Sun City before February when it will be voted on.
Nancy: I'm still beading a lot - mostly with tiny beads, needle and thread. Finding projects to teach at the Beading and Stitchery Group here keeps me hopping. I try to sell enough to be able to buy more beads! I am singing in a 45-voice Christmas cantata at church this year, with a 10 piece orchestra, plus playing hand bells. The Sun City Singers gave several concerts including one at the Capitol Rotunda. But we didn't see Arnold this year. He was probably busy still working on the budget.
Keep in touch.
